While children are attending workshops, caregivers are encouraged to gather in a separate space with their peers who are experiencing similar life circumstances. Members gain support from each other and share tools needed to cope with their own grief process along with helping manage and support their dependents at home.

My mom died from brain cancer when I was six. Growing up in a small community, there weren't many options offered for bereaved individuals, let alone a grieving child. Friends and family did their best to offer support, but many - if not all - were unfamiliar with how to support a young child who was actively grieving. Soul 57 would have been invaluable, not only because of the community of peers it offered, but to help provide healthy tools to explore grief. My hope is that Soul 57 will be that safe haven for youth in the BisMan community, and beyond, to find support while processing their loss. |
